Summer Adventures in Telluride
Explore the exciting summer vacation lodging and activities of legendary Telluride, CO

Telluride a beautiful town surrounded by Mountain peaks. A national historic landmark in its own right, the town is surrounded by the highest concentration of 14ers (14,000 foot mountains) in the United States!

The town of Telluride comes alive in the summer. Amongst its remote landscapes, Telluride’s exclusivity adds serenity to an already perfect vacation setting.

Summer normally begins on the first day of June in Telluride, but sometimes Mother Nature forgets to check the calendar. The mornings may bring brisk temperatures, but you will warm up quickly as the sun rises above the surrounding peaks. If the clouds stay away, you will be downright hot until they roll in later in the day. Rain comes with the clouds much of the time, even if it is just a light shower or two. The weather stays like this until the middle of September, although sometimes Mother Nature brings fall a little sooner. But have no fear, as mountain storms are short-lived, and often appreciated as they bring about a cooler and more comfortable afternoon sunset.

The Peaks Resort in Telluride’s Mountain Village is one of the best resorts in the area. When you are planning your trip to Telluride, you will want to consider their amazing summer vacation packages. While staying at this resort, you will have access to numerous amenities that include three restaurants, a fitness center, both an indoor and outdoor pool, an indoor waterslide, game area, spa, and so much more. Their summer lodging packages will make it easy for you to see that you cannot live without all those special features during your trip to Telluride.

This is especially true with the spa at The Peaks Resort because, at forty-two thousand square feet, it is the largest spa in the entire state! You can relax while being pampered with a massage or any other number of treatment options or you can step into one of the Roman baths, steam rooms, or saunas. The Oxygen Inhalation Lounge is perfect if you are still adjusting to the altitude or if you just need a little extra air from your swim in the lap pool.

Looking for more of a quaint stay? Than Hotel Columbia is the place for you! There you will find a complimentary breakfast with your stay that is a perfect start to the morning. At just a snowball's throw from the Gondola, you will love the scenic views and the convenient accessibility around the town. Don't shy away from the COSMOpolitan restaurant inside your hotel!

If you'd like to venture around town, head over to the Coffee Cowboy, which is a unique coffee food truck. You can get your favorite brew, whether it’s a regular coffee, espresso, hot tea, iced drink, chocolate drink, smoothie or frappe. Once you have your drink in hand, you’ll want to wander over to Baked in Telluride, where you can choose from one of the many varieties of donuts and pastries, or you can order a breakfast burrito or sandwich instead.

If you normally don’t eat breakfast, then save your trip for Baked in Telluride for lunch or dinner, as their menu will have plenty for you to choose from. Whether you are craving a sandwich, slice of pizza, pasta, or more, this restaurant will have you covered. They even have daily dinner specials, so you can try something new every day while getting a good deal!

Although you cannot ski down the mountains during the summer months, you can hike the trails! One of Telluride’s best summer hikes is Bear Creek Trail, which also happens to have numerous tributary trails. Yes, you will venture one thousand feet higher in altitude, but the views of Bear Creek Falls will truly take your breath away.

One of the most popular activities in Telluride during the summer months is golf, and you will find a fabulous course right in the Mountain Village. Don’t attempt to just show up for a tee time, because they book quickly. Instead, plan well in advance and make reservations. While you may be a good golfer, do not plan on getting anywhere near under par on this course, because you will be too distracted by the stunning views everywhere you look!

You can also explore many mountain trails via mountain bike or ATV. Of course, you will want to make sure that you are following the rules of the area and only taking motorized vehicles into areas and onto trails that they are allowed.

Off-roading is the best way to see many of the abandoned mines in Telluride, although you can hike to some of them as well. Take a guided tour if you want to see many of them and learn about their history. If you prefer a slower or faster pace, then renting a 4x4 is another option.

One of the best parts about spending time in Telluride during the summer months is that there are plenty of festivals to keep you busy. The magic begins with the Telluride Balloon Festival and then continues with the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, the Telluride Wine Festival, the Telluride Jazz Festival, the Telluride Mushroom Festival, the Telluride Film Festival, and the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. Those are just a few of the more popular festivals, and there are many others, as well as other activities taking place in this area of the state during the summer months. In fact, you may find that there is so much going on with all the festivals and other activities when you are in town that you have no time to do anything else!

Telluride has such a laidback atmosphere that you will find yourself relaxing as soon as you arrive in town. Embrace that feeling, so that you can enjoy your stay completely!
