Explore the adventures of Summer in Vail
You've seen it in winter, but do you know what you're missing in summer?

Throughout the year, the majestic mountains of Vail beckon people from all over the world. While these peaks are often white and covered with snow during the winter months, once the temperatures start to climb and the sun shines down more often, that white transforms into a brilliant green.

Treasured by locals and adventurers alike, summer in Vail is a destination to discover! The days are long, the nights are short, and travelers find no shortage of activities to fill their days.

Due to the location of these stunning mountains, you should always be prepared for the weather to change. Rain can start in an instant, bringing cooler temperatures along with it. Therefore, it is necessary that you bring a coat or sweatshirt with you even in sunny conditions. Rest assured, however, these storms are quick and predictable, often striking in the early afternoon and lasting only a short time.

The pristine mountains of Vail are known for being a little pricey, but there are plenty of summer vacation packages available to those who want to experience a little piece of paradise. There are numerous Vail Resort destinations scattered around the mountains, and many people find themselves returning to a favorite time and time again. However, with such amazing summer lodging packages in Vail’s portfolio, there is a chance that you may choose a different spot for your fun in the mountains!

There are many things to do in Vail during the summer months, so you won’t need to worry about missing all the snow. You can even enjoy the mountains from up high if you take the time to venture over to Game Creek Aerial Adventure. While there, you can zoom along seven different zip lines and tackle their aerial bridge. A favorite zipline amongst many past visitors is the longest one because it is approximately two thousand seven hundred feet up above the trees and provides amazing views of the ground below. If you are an adventure-seeker, then a ride down the alpine coaster is another must! Simply strap yourself in and soar three thousand four hundred feet down to the bottom of the mountain.

If rides are not your thing, then a hike may be just what you need to see the mountains up close from the trails. You can find trail maps at the Vail Nature Center and no matter which direction you head, you will find yourself learning quite a bit about the local wildlife, as well as the local plants and flowers. Hiking in comfort is also possible in Vail when you choose to go hiking with a llama. These llamas will carry all your gear, as you venture from one area of Vail to another, with short stops in between.

One of the best trails in Vail is Booth Falls Trail and it will lead you directly to gorgeous views. This out-and-back trail can be extended to a little more than eight and a half miles long, so you will need to leave early enough in the day to make it to the end. However, the entire journey will be worth it as you wander through lush green meadows and a forest filled with spruce trees, before reaching a sparkling lake in the mountains.

While visiting Vail during these warmer months, you should do a little whitewater rafting! There are plenty of whitewater rafting tours available in Vail and you have a choice between easy rapids for beginners or the extreme rapids for those who are simply fearless. Only you know what category you fall into but rest assured that there is a rafting trip just right for your needs.

Spending time in Vail Village is a must. While wandering around, you will want to do a little shopping in the stores before stopping for a bite to eat at a local restaurant. During the summer months, you should try to be in this area on a Wednesday, as there is an Art Walk on that day that will allow you to learn more about the forty-five different art pieces that are scattered about. There are murals, sculptures, paintings, and more for you to view and appreciate. Make sure that you do not leave the village before grabbing a treat or two at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

While Vail is a tranquil area, there may occasion to spend time in a beautiful area that offers a little more serenity. The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is the perfect choice during the summer months, due to the abundance of flowers that are in bloom. Children will love going on the scavenger hunt, as they follow the clues that lead them to the letterboxes that are strategically placed throughout the gardens.

Everyone gets hungry when they are in Vail, probably due to all the fresh air! Restaurants are everywhere in this charming mountain town, but the farmer’s market is where you will find the best foods. The Vail Farmer’s Market is open every Sunday during the summer and the hours are from ten in the morning until three thirty in the afternoon. There are one hundred and thirty-five tents covering the vendors who sell everything from food to art and anything in between. While the fresh fruits and vegetables are always hot sellers, you may be more interested in the prepared foods that vendors are selling. Grab a bite to eat from a vendor or three, and then get some produce and other local items to enjoy for the rest of your time in Vail!

You will never be bored when you vacation in Vail, so think of this area as a ski-town no longer! Instead, think of blue skies, warm sun, and a plethora of activities that are waiting for you during the summer months.
